Sightings - Summer 2022
Dear USNPAA Members,
This is the Summer 2022 issue of Sightings. It's also the last issue of our current co-editors—Tina Tallman and Tim Beecher. As I've told them, they have done an extraordinary job in their roles. They have elevated Sightings as a communications tool and in the process, they have also elevated the stature of the Navy Public Affairs Association. Their tireless efforts—and I repeat tireless efforts—have been above and beyond.
One of the things Tina and Tim have done in each issue is to capture and convey the capabilities and talents of the current Navy PA community. Personally, I am blown away by the professionalism, energy, enthusiasm and creativity of all those who are part of the community today. I think this, their final issue, is proof of Tina and Tim's showcasing today’s PA community. In fact, I think this is their best issue yet.
So for that I say “thank you” to the both of them for what they've accomplished. As the cliche goes, they have raised the bar—and raised it to an extraordinary level. Sightings is no run-of-the-mill newsletter for a non-profit organization. It's world-class and reflects on our entire community—both past and present. Unfortunately, words are simply insufficient to express the job Tina and Tim have done. As I've kidded them, if I could issue bonuses and stock options, I'd do so in a heartbeat, but I'm simply limited to “thank you.”
Tina and Tim have left some huge shoes to fill. I’m not sure who those individuals will be but the shoe manufacturers need to start making some NBA-size boots.
Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Joe Quimby and the job he and Tim did with Sightings for the first two years of my tenure. Joe and Tim laid a superb foundation that Tina inherited when she signed on and continued to build on as co-editor.
Enjoy the issue.
