USNPAA Reunion 2023
Dear USNPAA Members,
I am pleased to tell you the USNPAA Board of Directors approved holding Reunion 2023 in Arlington, VA, on September 8-9, 2023. I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to reconnect with old friends.
We decided the best way to get Reunion 2023 plans moving quickly was to dust off the plans we had for the April 2022 reunion which was postponed due to COVID. The good news is that our DC-based planning team – Sheila Graham, Brian Gray, Jim Noone, Dick Thompson and myself – agreed to do it again.
Some of you may have been expecting us to plan our next reunion at a different venue. However, after much thought and legwork, we felt it would be more prudent for a variety of reasons to hold it again in Arlington. Primary reasons are costs and being able to work with the same staff members at the Club and hotel. Both the Club and the hotel have agreed to keep our costs down. Actually, cost increases are minimal and very comparable to what they were four years ago. Additionally, we have ‘boots on the ground’ here, better access to speakers and Washington is very accessible.
We also benefit by returning to the Shirlington Hilton Garden Inn and the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington. While the hospitality industry was hit hard by COVID and prices have increased, the hotel and country club know our group and are willing to give us reasonable prices. An added benefit is the Board approved subsidizing the cost of Reunion2023, so our registration fee will be only $10 higher than it was in 2019.
USNPAA member Chris Dour has graciously agreed to sponsor our group at the elegant Army Navy Country Club in Arlington for a Welcome Reception and Dinner on Friday night, September 8. It is just a 10-minute drive from the hotel. We will have drinks and hors d’oeuvres on the Outdoor Terrace overlooking the Washington Monument followed by a delicious, seated dinner in the Five Star Ballroom, including a program with the presentation of awards and a guest speaker.
The reunion will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Arlington/Shirlington, the same hotel where we held Reunion 2019. Located about 10 minutes from Reagan National Airport, the hotel is in the lively Shirlington Village with its many restaurants, stores, theater, and grocery store.
On Saturday morning, September 9, we will meet in the hotel for a Business Meeting which will include top-notch guest speakers and other official business. Lunch in the hotel restaurant will be included. You will have some free time Saturday afternoon to explore Washington or just spend time connecting with old friends in our Hospitality Room. On Saturday evening we will conclude our reunion with heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks at a Farewell Reception in the hotel.
Full Registration will be $245 per attendee, only $10 more than it was in 2019. Full registration will include all the events, meetings, and the Hospitality Room. If you or your guest prefer to attend only select events, the Friday Welcome Reception and Dinner will be $130 per person, the Saturday Meeting and Lunch Package will be $85 per person and the Saturday Farewell Reception will be $70 per person.
The Hilton Garden Inn in Arlington/Shirlington is giving us a room block with reduced room rates for September 7, 8, 9 and 10. The rates are $159 (plus tax) per night for a King bed and $179 (plus tax) for 2 Queen beds.
More details about registering for the reunion and booking your hotel rooms will be sent out in the next couple of weeks. With only nine months to go before we gather in Arlington, VA, for Reunion 2023, I hope you will put September 8-9, 2023 on your calendar.
Sincerely,
Tom Jurkowsky
