The Captain Thomas Coldwell Award for Significant Achievement recognizes members of USNPAA for significant achievement after Navy service.
USNPAA presented its first Award for Significant Achievement in 1995 to RADM Bill Thompson, the first designated Public Affairs Officer to serve as the Navy’s Chief of Information.
The association later renamed the award to honor CAPT Tom Coldwell, a USNPAA plankowner and distinguished Public Affairs Officer who served the community and the Navy from 1958 to 1981.
