The Passing of JOC John A. Novotney
Dear USNPAA Members,
Jim Noone reports the following sad news:
Word has been received on the passing of JOC John Novotney last Oct. 2 in Eau Claire, WI, at age 92.
Chief Novotney served five years in the Army, then transferred to the Navy Reserve. He served in public affairs reserve units in Washington and Norfolk and retired in 1989 after 22 years of military service. A talented writer, John was a good man with a dry sense of humor. He worked for newspapers in Canada, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and then in DC with the Religious News Service and the Christian College Consortium. He was a graduate of St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
In 1997 he moved to the Czech Republic, where he worked for 10 years as an English language editor for the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. Several years ago he moved back to the United States to be near two sisters in Chippewa Falls, WI. John is buried in Bohemian National Cemetery in Cadott, WI.
Sincerely,
Dick Thompson
