The Passing of CAPT Kenneth C. Beachler
Dear USNPAA Members,
I’m very saddened to report that beloved Captain Ken Beachler has passed at age 87. Ken was a Naval reservist.
Ken’s life was dedicated to the performing arts and his commitment was unwavering. Ken made countless contributions in his life but one of the most notable was his leadership in the planning and development of the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts at Michigan State University. He also served as the center’s first executive director. Additionally, Ken was a leading member of the Lansing theatrical community.
Prior to becoming a Naval reservist, Ken served in the U.S. Army.
In informing me of his passing, Captain Ritch Eich characterized Ken this way: “One of the very most talented, versatile, positive and patriotic persons I've ever had the privilege of calling a great friend….To those of us who knew him well—and there are many of us—he was the "Beach.”
Our thoughts are with Ken’s family, friends and loved ones as they reflect on his wonderful life.
