The Passing of JOCS Billy Bearden

November 3, 2021
The Passing of JOCS Billy Bearden

Dear USNPAA Members,

I would like to inform you about the recent passing of Senior Chief Journalist Billy Bearden. The senior chief passed away on 13 October at his home in Locust Grove, Virginia.

Senior Chief Bearden served on active duty for 23 years and was a seasoned combat photographer. Following his Navy career, Senior Chief Bearden served as a communicator in several government agencies. This included serving as the Acting Director for Communications at the General Services Administration.

For those who knew him, Billy is best known for his serving as editor of The Blue Jackets Manual for many years.

Senior Chief Bearden leaves behind his wife, Ellen, of 49 years.

Our thoughts are with the Bearden family.

Tom Jurkowsky
President
