The Passing of CDR Francis X. Steele, USN (Ret.)
Dear USNPAA Members,
We have been informed about the passing of Commander Francis X. Steele several months ago in Lewiston, Maine. He was 90 years old.
Commander Steele was a Naval Academy graduate who began his career as a line officer and subsequently became a PAO. After service in Vietnam, Commander Steele attended the University of Wisconsin where he earned a Master’s degree in Mass Communications. A Pentagon tour followed in CHINFO and then five years in Europe, including at Navy European headquarters in London. He retired from the Navy in 1975.
We are grateful for Commander Steele’s service to our nation, the Navy and our community.
