Professional Development Assistance Program Update
Dear Association Members:
You may have read about the professional development program the Association has undertaken in our Sightings newsletter (Summer 2022, pp. 13-14) or in CHINFO’s Sailing Directions. Called the Professional Development Assistance Program (PDAP), the program provides financial grants to active duty and reserve public affairs officers, Mass Communications Specialists and civilian public affairs specialists. Rear Admiral Perry has welcomed the program as a way to augment the public affairs community’s professional development efforts.
Complete details about the program and the application form are available on the Association web site at https://www.usnpaa.org/pro-dev.html
The grant program initially was funded with an anonymous $5,000 gift from an Association member. I'm pleased to report that another member, retired Captain Bruce Cole, has made a significant gift to add to the program. Other gifts are welcome. Mail your check to USNPAA, 6119 Larstan Drive, Alexandria VA 22312. Contributions are tax-exempt.
Additionally, if you know anyone now serving who may benefit from a professional development grant for a course, seminar or accreditation preparation, please encourage them to apply.
